TEN is proud to announce that POWDER took home an advertising award for Best Native Advertising/Sponsored Content for “The Human Factor” presented by Black Diamond at the second annual Digiday Content Marketing Awards held in New York City May 28.
Selected by a panel of judges that included brands, publishers, and agencies, the award recognized the symbiotic relationship between POWDER and Black Diamond in their effort to promote snow safety by analyzing the psychological factors involved in decision-making in the backcountry.
While sharing the nomination space with brands and publications like AT&T, Mountain Dew, Sports Illustrated, and Forbes, the win not only speaks to the collective endeavor, which also included the media planning firm Backbone Media, but it affirms that quality storytelling remains paramount in brands aligning with publishers to produce content.
“It was an honor to be among world class brands at the Digiday Awards,” said POWDER Associate GM Kevin Back, who was in New York alongside Black Diamond’s Alex Hamlin and Backbone Media’s Laura Merino. “The confidence from Black Diamond to entrust POWDER with a like-minded goal and vision laid the foundation for the success of The Human Factor. With Black Diamond’s support, this project, and award, represent the beacon of sponsored content done properly.”
This is the second award for “The Human Factor” after it won an editorial MAGGIE award on May 1 at the 64th Annual Western Publishing Association event for “Best Digital Edition or Tablet Article/Trade & Consumer.” In January 2015, “The Human Factor” was also named a finalist at the National Magazine Awards in the Multimedia category, the first time a ski magazine has ever been nominated at the National Magazine Awards. The five-chapter multimedia feature by David Page investigates the impact of decision-making in avalanche terrain.
